Admit it, that would have made a great article title. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">But behind the acronym IDU lies something a little less romantic and far more important for your compliance: the Unique Identifier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">If your company places packaging on the market, this identifier is essential. But what exactly is it for? How is it issued? When will you receive it? And, above all, should you worry if you do not have it yet?    <\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">Let&#8217;s take a closer look.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"b-text b-0 theme-lighter py-lg\">\n\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t<div class=\"col-12 md:col-8 md:offset-2 grid items-start grid-cols-1  gap-sm\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"m-cardText flex flex-col rounded-xlg  tx-center items-center\">\n      <h2 class=\"tx-balance tx-tmd mb-md\">The IDU: your unique identifier to demonstrate EPR compliance<\/h2>\n      \n  <div class=\"m-textContent mb-md -center\"><p class=\"tx-pmd\">The Unique Identifier (IDU) identifies your company as a producer subject to an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme. Each EPR scheme has its own IDU: if you are subject to several schemes, you therefore have several identifiers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">For the EPR scheme for professional packaging (EPRO), your IDU is assigned by ADEME after you join an approved eco-organisation (we would naturally recommend Twiice). Your eco-organisation (Twiice, of course) registers you with ADEME, a step required for this identifier to be assigned. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">Once assigned, your IDU demonstrates your compliance with your EPR obligations. In particular, it must appear in your General Terms and Conditions of Sale and on certain contractual documents. It remains valid as long as your membership is active and your company information is up to date.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">A change of contact details, a new subsidiary, a change in your legal status\u2026 Remember to update your company information in your MyTwiice account so that it remains accurate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n                      \n\n\n\n\t\n<a\n\tclass=\"a-btn p-sm tx-lmd rounded-md -primary  justify-self-center flex items-center gap-xsm\"\n\t href=\"https:\/\/www.mytwiice.org\/login\"\t\t target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\n>\n\t\tAccess my MyTwiice account\t  <svg aria-hidden=\"true\" focusable=\"false\" class=\"a-svg -droite a-icon -xsm\"><use href=\"https:\/\/www.twiice.org\/wp-content\/themes\/twiice\/assets\/images\/svg\/sprite.symbol.svg#icon-droite\" \/><\/svg>\n<\/a>\n\n              <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"b-text b-0 theme-lighter py-lg\">\n\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t<div class=\"col-12 md:col-8 md:offset-2 grid items-start grid-cols-1  gap-sm\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\n\n    \n<div class=\"m-cardText flex flex-col rounded-xlg p-lg tx-center items-center theme-white\">\n      <h2 class=\"tx-balance tx-tmd mb-md\">How do you obtain your IDU?<\/h2>\n      \n  <div class=\"m-textContent -center\"><p class=\"tx-pmd\">It&#8217;s simple: you obtain your IDU after joining Twiice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">Joining is free and entirely online through MyTwiice, and takes just 10 to 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">Once you have signed your agreement, Twiice takes over: we complete the necessary steps with ADEME to register your company and enable your IDU to be assigned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">Under normal circumstances, allow around 3 working days, subject to ADEME processing and issuing the IDU. However, issuing times are currently exceptionally long. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"b-text b-0 theme-lighter\">\n\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t<div class=\"col-12 md:col-8 md:offset-2 grid items-start grid-cols-1  gap-sm\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\n\n    \n<div class=\"m-cardText flex flex-col rounded-xlg p-lg tx-center items-center theme-white\">\n      <h2 class=\"tx-balance tx-tsm mb-sm\">Why the extra time?<\/h2>\n      \n  <div class=\"m-textContent -center\"><p class=\"tx-pmd\">ADEME is currently adapting its SYDEREP platform, which is used, among other things, to register companies under the various EPR schemes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">As soon as registration for EPRO becomes possible, we will complete the necessary steps with ADEME to obtain your IDU. You will then receive it by email and will also be able to find it directly in your member account. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"b-text b-0 theme-lighter py-lg\">\n\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t<div class=\"col-12 md:col-8 md:offset-2 grid items-start grid-cols-1  gap-sm\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"m-cardText flex flex-col rounded-xlg  tx-center items-center\">\n      <h2 class=\"tx-balance tx-tmd mb-md\">Have you joined Twiice but not yet received your IDU? Don&#8217;t worry. <\/h2>\n      \n  <div class=\"m-textContent -center\"><p class=\"tx-pmd\">This delay is linked to the scheme&#8217;s implementation schedule and has no effect on your regulatory status at this stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">EPRO will come into effect in France on 1 January 2027. The PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, see our article &#8220;PPWR: the European regulation changing the rules for your packaging&#8221;) also requires producers to be registered in each Member State&#8217;s national register by 12 February 2027 at the latest. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tx-pmd\">What matters today is that you have started the compliance process.
