Who are you?

Packaging manufacturer

Packaging manufacturers occupy a particular position within the EPR scheme for professional packaging (EPRO). Manufacturer, producer placing packaging on the market, packaging waste holder or waste management operator: depending on your activities, you may hold several responsibilities at once.

But your role goes beyond compliance. Recyclability, reusability, material reduction and the incorporation of recycled plastic: your design choices shape both your packaging and your customers' packaging.

Twiice supports you as closely as possible to your operational challenges, with the expertise and tools you need to clarify your obligations, manage your flows, eco-design your packaging and showcase your solutions.

One manufacturer, several roles within EPR

As a packaging manufacturer, EPR may apply to you in several capacities, and these roles can be combined within the same company. You may therefore be:

Your status under EPR is not always easy to determine.

Our quick test helps you identify your obligations in a few questions.

    FAQ

No. Manufacturing packaging is not enough on its own to determine EPR responsibility. Status depends in particular on the packaging type, the conditions under which it is made available and, in some cases, the brand under which it is sold. A manufacturer may therefore be an EPR producer for some flows and simply a supplier for others.

    Yes.
For example, you may be responsible for some packaging that you place on the market while also holding packaging received with raw materials or products used on your own sites.
These two responsibilities relate to different flows and can apply at the same time.

When it becomes waste on your sites, you must have it sorted and directed to appropriate collection, reuse or recycling solutions. Tracking these flows also makes it possible to demonstrate that they have been properly managed and recovered.

Offcuts and rejects arising directly from manufacturing must be distinguished from packaging that becomes waste after use. They may be suitable for recovery or recycling solutions, but do not necessarily fall under the same mechanisms or regulatory definitions. They are therefore not eligible for financial support under the EPR scheme for professional packaging.

Recyclability, material reduction, reusability and the incorporation of recycled materials are gradually becoming core criteria for producers placing packaging on the market.
By developing your packaging, you can reduce its environmental impact, anticipate regulatory changes and offer your customers better-performing solutions.

MyRecycledContent enables manufacturers and suppliers to make their professional packaging containing recycled plastic visible to companies looking for these solutions.
Listing helps showcase your ranges, makes their recycled content identifiable and makes it easier to connect with prospective customers.

The recycled plastic incorporation premium (IMPR) is an eco-modulation mechanism designed to encourage the use of recycled plastic.
Where the regulatory criteria are met, it benefits the producer placing on the market the product or packaging concerned.
Packaging manufacturers play an essential role in enabling their customers to access this premium, by incorporating recycled material and providing the necessary information and evidence.

Yes, where it is itself the producer placing the packaging concerned on the market and the eligibility conditions are met.
Where it manufactures packaging on behalf of another producer, its role is mainly to offer an eligible solution and provide its customer with the information needed to evidence the incorporation of recycled material.

    No.

Although MyRecycledContent and the IMPR premium both support the PPWR target of 35% recycled content in plastic packaging, they are complementary but separate mechanisms.
MyRecycledContent makes packaging containing recycled plastic visible and helps showcase it. Eligibility for the IMPR premium depends on meeting the criteria and providing the evidence required by the regulations and the applicable EPR scheme.

Your situation depends on the packaging you manufacture, market, use and, where applicable, manage once it becomes waste.
Twiice helps you map your different activities, identify the responsibilities associated with each flow and determine the procedures to put in place.
